Self-Discovery 100km MTB Adventure in Otaki!!

Kiso Trail in Ohtaki-mura,Nagano
TYPE : One way
LENGTH : 100km (95km dirt trail)
DIFFICULTY : Physically Very Very Tough / Pack-O-Meter 0
ELEVATION : Low-900m, High-1580m
TIME : 10hrs (Time Limit!!)
WHEATHER : Rain (High 20.5C / Low 10.6C)
RIDERS : Bendo, Hacci, ZZ-san, Phreddie, Lee, Shinny, Hase

We registered the 100km Self Discovery Ride on September 20th!!
It is a off road 100km ride and we never tried and finishd 100km of rough road...
We took a day off on Friday and get ready for the race!!

On the Race day....It was cold and clowdy in the morinig!!
The starting time was 6:00a.m. so we woke up at 4:00a.m.....
Sleepy...

It started 6:10!!
more than 500 riders started at the same time!!
First 5km are paved road and climb about 200m.
and dirt road begins...
We had to ride 30km and climb more than 300m to Check Point#1 with in 4hours!!
I thought it wouldn't be very hard.
WRONG!! the trail was rough and we had to climb and down so many times.
It took me nearly 4 hours to the CP#1....

It was flat and many down hill to the CP#2 in the begining...
There is more than 30Km to CP#2. but I had more than 3 hours and I thought it would be more than enough.
So I thought it would be easy to clear CP#2.
WRONG AGAIN!! There were many long and tough climb in the later section...
I barely clear the CP#2.....

Thre is only 15km to the CP#3. but I had only 62min....
My back was in pain and there was long rough climb in front of me..
I thought I could never clear the CP3....
BUT the staff told me that this is the only climb in this section!
Okay!! So, I thought there may be a chance to clear the CP#3!!
WRONG WRONG WONG!!
Rough and long climb continue and continue...
My 62min was passed quickly and time I get to the CP#3, I was about 1hour over the time limit...
My 100km MTB Adventure was over at the CP#3(75Km point)....

Congratulations to Hacci and Bendo.
They finished all 100km with in 10hours!!
I think this is a great achivement to those two guys!!
They are now the honor member of Team Extreme Phreddie!!

It was the toughest ride I've ever done in my life...
Do I come back again next year?? ....I don't know...may be, may be not...
